“When I got to Beijing, studying Mandarin never occurred to my mind since I am only here for several months. As the days passed by, I am beginning to feel the need to know the basics of the language to better express myself and not to get lost.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to experience the free language classes offered by Capital Mandarin. I must say that my learning now is more than what I should learn for two meetings. Capital Mandarin knows the order of the topics to discuss especially for immediate application of foreigners in dealing with their daily activities such as asking for directions, riding a bus, etc. The ambience of the training center is very conducive for learning because it has separaterooms, and located at the 16th floor of a high rise building overlooking the business district.
The student to teacher ratio is very small which I believe is very advantageous for a faster learning and easier facilitation of the class. As for my classmates, we all have different backgrounds and its very interesting to know diversities of culture through them. Practicing conversational chinese with them is very fun. We all got to learn from our mistakes and try to correct each other. The instructors in this center are superb. They know exactly what they teach and their passion for teaching exudes so much that reflects through the methods of presenting the lesson and their friendly attitude towards the students. Teachers use visual aids such as maps and pictures to better help students understand the topic.
What is more fascinating about the program is that, the help does not stop only at the four walls of the room but rather you can reach them anywhere if you would like to inquire something like asking for directions and translations through their survival card. Rest assured that your inquiry will be answered with utmost enthusiam. Personally, that program helped me in going to my appointments and I must say I feel secured to go out alone as long as I have the hotline number with me. In this case, I would like to commend that program very much and if I may suggest that if this survival hotline program continues to expand, hopefully it would be 24/7.
Generally, our (my sister and me) experience here is very worthwhile. We got to meet new friends at the same time learn chinese language in a fun manner. For that, we are very thankful ! ”—Richmond Camello |
